Alpha Kappa Psi is the world's oldest and largest professional business fraternity, of which the Omicron Omega chapter was established in 1998 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. With notable alumni such as Ronald Reagan and the founders of companies like Coca-Cola, Hallmark, and Reddit, the fraternity is recognized for its excellence in academic, professional, and entrepreneurial circles.

I served as the president of the fraternity for the 2015-2016 school year, and one of my primary independent projects I did with my friend Britt was building a more modern and cohesive branding system. We conceptualized

objective(s)

1. Create comprehensive logo and style guide to reflect both the chapter's modern ideology and traditional fraternity values, and serve as a unified graphic standard in all marketing collateral

positioning/strategy

We've done a lot of work in the past couple of years to establish our brand message, diversify and increase our outreach both on-campus and in the professional community, and develop and refine our infrastructure. We wanted to update our chapter's personal brand accordingly.

branding

We wanted to retain the imagery of the fraternity's legacy, so we chose the Phoenician galley and the ten-pointed star from the original crest for the iconography, and a muted color palette. We wanted a minimalist branding system that would be simple and professional, but still look very clean and modern.

We chose Franklin Gothic for the font, in all weights, because it looked good in both English and Greek lettering. The Phoenician galley is positioned in the middle of the ten-pointed star, or above the chapter name. The alternate logo is the "AKΨ" in the ten-pointed stars. The colors may interchanged, as long as we maintain a contrast of dark and light;
