"Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place." —Iain Thomas
NOT YOUR TYPICAL LIFESTYLE BLOG
Hey hi hello!
I'm a compulsive writer, self-taught designer, and developing brand strategist, currently seeking the meaning of life (among other things).
some of my favorite things
Reading, traveling, cats, jasmine tea, minimalist design, vintage slang, soft blankets, armchair philosophy, good ramen, short poetry, miniature desserts, dark lipsticks, and comfy cardigans.
some of my core beliefs
The best things are beautiful, intentional, and meaningful.
The Oxford comma is not optional (I am very passionate about this).
Clever design/good writing can render technology superfluous.
Feminism is a great product with terrible branding.
Art is both frequently unfulfilling and vitally important.
Avocados should count as vegetables.
The intersection of data + creativity is the next frontier of everything.
Good skincare is universally necessary.
The secret to happiness is maintaining your sense of wonder.
some final thoughts
I've always thought the term "lifestyle blog" was unsatisfying; it offers less reality and more a very curated narrative of a very perfect life. I wanted a blog with a purpose. I wanted to focus equally on the aestheticism and essence of life that make it so wonderful, and the most unglamorous and unfiltered parts of it as well. Because life is messy and imperfect, and that's part of its charm. And because interests in a good-quality highlighter and child sex trafficking shouldn't be mutually exclusive.
I couldn't find any other lifestyle blogs that actually discussed things of substance, so I decided to write one. This blog was created as a way to share my honest thoughts, my personal projects, and other things I'm passionate about: the places I travel, the food I make, the things I read, and the little inklings that keep me awake at night.
