ucsb department of recreation
find your fit
The UCSB Department of Recreation encompassed everything from adventure clubs to intramural sports to music classes, provided to the Gaucho population and local community.
As a creative designer, I made posters, flyers, social media material, and other marketing collateral to advertise the department's classes, programs, and events. I also collaborated with other designers to conceptualize creative ways to communicate with the student body through campus initiatives, further develop the department's internal/external branding, and facilitate student engagement on social media and in person.
Concept poster for Hallowheels, a free roller-skating event hosted by the UCSB Department of Recreation and the Office of Student Life. I was inspired by the indie video game "Ruins" for a dreamy, surreal color palette contrasted with a fun, boisterous vibe like Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
Concept poster for the UCSB Department of Recreation's Senior Banquet that celebrates the graduation of the senior class. It was circus-themed, but I wanted it to look whimsical rather than lurid to give it a more elegant feel, à la Big Fish, so I used a muted color palette.
DI(REC)TORY SPRING 2016
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Initial design for the table of contents of the spring edition of the Department of Recreation's Di(REC)tory, a quarterly publication that lists the department's classes, programs, activities, and amenities. I wanted an '80s vintage album cover kind of feel to it. Ultimately, this design didn't fit with the rest of the program so I designed a different one, but this iteration is still my favorite.
